This is the BEST latte I have had in Kyoto - in the past 2 trips this year. And the fact is that it is so nondescript, people will miss it as they head straight to the American chain diagonally across. The family who runs this cafe is so friendly and they know their coffee. 一番 Ichiban desu!

Superb coffee, great selection and good tasting notes for the one I tried so much so that I had to buy some beans to take home. If you like decent coffee come here

This cafe has warmth and character that shines especially because of the people who staff it. That's the cherry on top of the good coffee. I was intending to go across the street to Starbucks but something drew me to dip my head in here instead. I wish I had earlier. Mr. Kawamura was packing up his print making tools and took the time to explain the different home roasted coffee blends and the value for the price. He chatted and packaged our beans for us. As the store was closing, I ordered a pour over to-go at the counter from the lady store owner. The coffee had good depth of flavor. The shop is situated near the top of the stairs of Ninenzaka (first shop on the right, coming down stairs), and is a good respite space. Look out for the umbrellas above the door. The interior ambience is a mix of modern and traditional, eastern and western. I found the website and it seems they offer a coffee subscription and a blog (you can tell they love their craft)! We would come again if in the Ninenzaka area and try more of their offerings. Wishing the staff long and healthy life!

If you want high quality, specialty coffee (any roast type), come here. Not just for the coffee, but maybe treat yourself to some japanese hot cakes & a mango juice too. Air conditioned and a perfect hideaway from that warm Kyoto day! Be aware that there is a step up to get inside, and may not be so stroller or wheel chair friendly.

This was a proper Italian espresso, which I find exceedingly hard to come by outside of Italy. Thick crema, great body, minimal acidity, nice finish with no bitterness. The equipment in the shop is indicative of the great care in preparing a proper coffee for those who appreciate it.

There are many big and small coffee shops in Kyoto. This is one of my favourite in town. Small production batches roasted by Novo Mark II with different characters. The roasting machine is made in Kyoto. Services are superb. Highly recommended!

Really great coffee with beautiful thick crema on the top, lovely frozen lemon drink and our first taste of fat, fluffy pancakes. Absolutely brilliant.
